Keep the Beacon Lit

Dharma Beacon is an independent community. It runs on generosity — not paywalls, not institutions, not scarcity. Your monthly gift keeps the teachings free and the Beacon reaching outward.

The Old Story

For a long time, dharma came wrapped in scarcity — locked behind program fees, center dues, and institutional budgets. When the money tightened, the teachings tightened with it. Centers closed. Programs disappeared. The living impulse got buried under the cost of keeping the lights on.

We don't want that to happen here. A community built on the setting-sun logic of not enough will eventually protect its form and forget its essence — the way Kodak protected the film and buried the future it had already invented.

The Oldest Economy

Long before subscriptions, there was dana — generosity. The teachings were given freely, and the community sustained those who carried them. The giver and the teacher were never separate; both kept the dharma alive.

Dharma Beacon returns to that economy. No one is turned away. The community itself is the guide — and you, by giving what you can, become part of keeping it alive. This is the open hand: nothing hoarded, nothing withheld.

Considering a larger gift?

Will you help keep it lit?

One monthly gift, whatever size feels honest, keeps the teachings open to everyone who needs them — and keeps this community free to grow.

What Your Gift Makes Possible

If the Beacon goes quiet, the teachings it carries go quiet with it. Your monthly gift is what keeps them moving.

Spread the word

Your gift funds the outreach that carries these teachings to a wider audience — people who may never find a center near them.

Keep it fluid

No institutional overhead, no paywalls to maintain. Monthly gifts let the project move where the dharma is actually needed.

Keep it free

Everything stays open — teachings, the Kalyanamitra, the community. No one is turned away for lack of funds.

A Community That Gives It Forward

Imagine a dharma community sustained by abundance — where everyone gives what they can and no one is kept out, where the teachings travel as far as generosity can carry them. That is the Great Eastern Sun: wealth shared, not hoarded.

You are not buying access. You are keeping a door open — for yourself and for everyone who comes after.
